"txtme" exhibition at New Greenham Arts

textbank" Archive, "cu", and "txtme" Exhibition

All the texts that were sent during 2 -8 september 2006, "National textbank Week", our nation wide campaign to gather them, are currently archived in "textbank". These are sorted into categories and can be accessed directly from the buttons of the mobile on the textbank home page. Browse through them and see the type of texts we sent to one another in 2006.
We, Arabella Lee and Melanie Rose are two visual artists who have been collaborating on projects that explore the way we communicate since 2003. We hope artists and writers will use and find the text messages in the archive, as we have, a creative inspiration. The archive has been the basis of two exhibitions "cu" at aspex, The Vulcan Building, Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth, PO1 3BF, and also last October, "txtme" at New Greenham Arts, Newbury.
50 of the texts from the archive were individually displayed on A1 sheets of paper and were shown in our, "cu". exhibition that ran earlier this year in the intro space at the aspex Gallery from 10 January - 17 February 2007.

Displayed on the monitor "cu", also features selective work from "Post Marks", an earlier collaborative project on communication.

78 text messages were also chosen for our exhibition "txtme" last October at New Greenham Arts, Newbury.

Both exhibitions include sound pieces and other work relating to texting.
